William was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He was exposed
to church at a young age by his mother and grandmother. He enjoyed
Sunday school because of the candy rewards given by the Sunday school
teacher.
William graduated Glenn High School in Birmingham,Al. & Neosho Community College in Chanute, Ks with honors. An avid athlete, he enjoyed basketball and track and was actively involved in these sports. He went on to earn his bachelors degree from Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Fl.
William’s first encounter with GOD occurred at age 9 following his grandmother’s death. As he recounts, "The Holy Spirit awoke him in the middle of the night and instructed him to read the book of Revelation". Scared by what he read he ran to his mother and asked “how do you get saved”? The next night the Holy Spirit returned. Again he was instructed to read the book of Revelation. Even more scared he now exclaimed to the Lord “why did you put me here? I could have just stayed where I was at so I wouldn't have to deal with all this stuff”!
While at Jacksonville University, William had another visitation from the Holy Spirit.
This time he surrendered his life to the Lord and was born again. As he says so many times in his preaching “I had a conversion experience on January 25, 1984 at about 5:30am in Merrill Hall room 301 – Jesus lit up my room with his presence. I heard the voice of the LORD clearly as any person would speak “son this is salvation. He called me son”!
William was later filled with the Holy Spirit and called to Preach. “Behold now is the accepted time, now is the day of Salvation”(2 Cor.6:2) . GOD used this passage of scripture to frame William’s call to the Ministry. He was later elected Chaplain of the United Minorities Alliance on Jacksonville University’s campus and started Christian service on campus.
While in College he married his high school sweetheart Alfreda Fitts. They started a family and today they have three children Monica, Michael and Joshua.
William is a non-denominational Pastor. He has been licensed by three different governing bodies. He is ordained by Dr. Willie B. O’Neal of Mt. Canaan Full Gospel Church in Birmingham, Al. (1991) He is ordained by Apostle Mark Dubois of Judah International Ministries in Mackinaw, IL. (1996) He is ordained by Pastor Rod Parsley of World Harvest Church International (International Ministers Fellowship (1999)).
William enjoys twenty years of ministry and is the Founder and Pastor of Zoe Christian Center in Bloomington/ Normal (2005). He loves to share the Word to help others grow spiritually and get to know the Lord. One of his greatest memories in ministry that he testifies about, is the time he and a fellow minister were preaching on the streets of Birmingham. It started to rain so hard you could only see white in front of you he recounts. They stopped under a shed and started preaching through the rain with a tiny microphone and amplifier. Later a young man came running through the rain crying “I want to be saved, tell me how to get saved – I heard you guys from over three blocks away” !
William is still telling them how to get saved today.
